To meet the longstanding demand of the local population, the Government of China is to install 3,200 solar panel units in various houses in Gwadar.
“The project is being carried out with direct help of China,” Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar announced Thursday in Gwadar. “About 3,200 solar units will be arriving in Pakistan from China at the end of January, 2022” he said, adding the installation of the panels would be completed by the end of March.
The minister said he would monitor and keep the data of the process of installing the solar panels to ensure that “every person in Gwadar enjoy the benefits of the project”.
Asad Umar said that Cabinet Committee of Energy has already approved entering into a deal with Iran for new energy purchases. “A team from Ministry of Energy is leaving for China later this month to discuss with Chinese officials the purchase of more electricity from Iran,” he added.
The minister said that Gwadar is not connected to National Grid Station and for this purpose an agreement has been finalized. “By the summer of 2023, 100 megawatts of electricity will come to the National Grid Station in Gwadar,” he said, adding that electricity would increase as demand for energy increases.
