After successful negotiation with a team led by Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Quddus Bizenjo, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch called off the month-long sit-in observed in the city of Gwadar Thursday. Both sides signed an agreement in front of the sit-in participants.
“All demands of the rights movement have been accepted and all concerned departments have been directed to address the grievances of the masses of Gwadar,” announced CM Quddus Bizenjo.
“In front of the sit-in participants, an agreement has been signed with CM Balochistan; we hope the government will ensure the implementation,” said Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman.
According to Provincial Minister Zahoor Buledi, “The negotiation with Maulana Hidayat Ur Rehman in the presence of the CM has been successful. Govt has accepted all demands of Maulana Sb and the dharna (sit-in) is to be called off”.
The main points of the agreement include an end to illegal trawling, fewer checkpost, job opportunities and the provision of basic facilities including clean drinking water and electricity for the local people.
Earlier Federal Ministers Asad Umar and Zubeida Jalal held meetings with Chief Minister Mir Quddus Bizenjo-led team and reviewed CPEC, Federal and Provincial projects at Gwadar. They also had a detailed discussion about the issues of the people of Gwadar, including the sit-in.
