The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing commemorated Defence and Martyrs Day with a ceremony honoring the courage and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
Lt. Gen. Luo Huiqi, Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection and Director of the Supervisory Commission of the PLA Army, attended the event as Chief Guest.
Senior Chinese civil and military officials also attended the ceremony. Members of the diplomatic corps, defence attachés, media representatives, and the Pakistani community joined the gathering.
Ceremony Pays Tribute to Martyrs
The programme opened with the national anthems of Pakistan and China. Students from Pakistan Embassy College Beijing performed the anthems.
Documentaries then highlighted the Pakistan Armed Forces’ role during the 1965 war. The presentations also covered their contributions to disaster relief and international peacekeeping.
In addition, the documentaries highlighted Pakistan’s participation in efforts supporting regional and international peace and stability.
Officials Highlight Military Service
Brigadier Ali Asghar Khan, Defence and Army Attaché at the Embassy of Pakistan, welcomed the guests.
He highlighted the professionalism and dedication of the Pakistan Armed Forces in safeguarding the country.
Meanwhile, Aizaz Khan, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Pakistan, paid tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives defending Pakistan.
Pakistan-China Friendship Highlighted
Aizaz Khan also emphasized the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation. He linked this cooperation with efforts to promote regional peace, stability, and security.
Ceremony Concludes in Beijing
The ceremony concluded with an exchange of souvenirs between the Chief Guest, the Chargé d’Affaires, and the Defence and Army Attaché.
A cake-cutting ceremony followed the exchange, bringing the Defence and Martyrs Day event to a close.
