Pakistan’s National University of Technology (NUTECH) has sent 71 students to China to complete the final year of a three-year dual diploma programme in emerging technologies.
The students are enrolled in the Sino-Pak (2+1) Dual Diploma Programme. They completed their first two years of academic and technical training at NUTECH.
Now, they will spend their third year in China to gain international technical and educational experience.
Second Batch Expands Sino-Pak Programme
The latest group is significantly larger than NUTECH’s first batch. The university sent 23 students to Guangzhou Polytechnic University in October 2025.
That group completed two years of software technology studies in Islamabad before travelling to China.
The larger second batch highlights the expanding scope of technical education cooperation between Pakistan and China.
Officials Encourage Technical Skills
A send-off ceremony took place at NUTECH. Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, attended the event.
Qamar-ul-Islam Raja, Chairman of NAVTTC, and Cheng Peng, Cultural Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, also joined the ceremony.
Raja stressed the importance of linking technical education with labour-market demands. He said international partnerships can help young Pakistanis develop practical skills and improve their employment prospects.
Meanwhile, Rana Mashhood congratulated the students. He encouraged them to make full use of the academic and technical opportunities available in China.
Students Gain International Experience
NUTECH designed the 2+1 model to provide students with exposure to China’s technical, industrial, and educational environment.
At the same time, students can complete most of their diploma studies in Pakistan. This approach combines local education with international technical training.
Strengthening Pakistan-China Education Cooperation
The programme represents another step in Pakistan-China cooperation in technical and vocational education.
Moreover, international training can help Pakistani students build practical skills for emerging industries. It may also improve their readiness for increasingly competitive technology-driven job markets.
NUTECH also presented certificates to high-performing students during the ceremony, recognizing their academic achievements.
