The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has started preparing a comprehensive PC-I for the permanent rehabilitation and dredging of the Pishukan Fish Landing Jetty.
The updated document will include all technical and financial requirements. Once completed, authorities will submit it to the provincial government for approval and funding.
The project aims to ensure the jetty remains fully operational over the long term.
GDA Reviews Rehabilitation Work
GDA Director General Moin ur Rehman Khan visited the Pishukan Fish Landing Jetty on September 3. He reviewed the ongoing rehabilitation work and assessed the facility’s current condition.
Chief Engineer Haji Syed Muhammad also attended the visit. Director of Town Planning and Project Director Shahid Ali, Executive Engineer Muhammad Akbar, and contractor Haji Sharif Zamil were present as well.
Focus on Regular Dredging
During the visit, officials discussed permanent rehabilitation and a future plan for regular dredging.
The Director General directed officials to conduct a detailed assessment alongside the dredging plan. The assessment will cover the jetty’s design, engineering, technical requirements, and operational needs.
Moreover, officials will examine the facility’s long-term requirements. This approach aims to improve its effectiveness and maintain smooth operations.
Causeway Work to Resume Next Week
Later, the Director General visited the under-construction causeway at Plari Kor on Marine Drive. He reviewed the progress and received a briefing on the project.
Construction had remained suspended for about one month. However, work is expected to resume next week.
After construction restarts, authorities plan to accelerate the remaining work. This will help move the causeway toward timely completion.
Boosting Gwadar’s Infrastructure
The rehabilitation plan represents another step toward improving infrastructure in Gwadar. Regular dredging can also support the jetty’s long-term functionality.
Meanwhile, the resumption of causeway construction will further improve local connectivity. Together, these projects can support the area’s fishing, transport, and economic activities.
