The total revenue of China’s science fiction industry in 2025 reached 126.1 billion yuan (approximately 18.05 billion USD), according to a report released by the China Research Institute for Science Popularization.
The revenue has exceeded 100 billion yuan for three consecutive years, marking steady progress toward high-quality development in the sector, the report said at the China Science Fiction Convention 2026 held in Beijing.
The report highlights five core sectors contributing to this growth: literature, films and TV shows, video games, derivative products, and themed tourism.
