China’s 110-meter, 7,000-tonne fully electric deep-sea test ship, Weilai, has started trials with more than 20 sets of domestic marine equipment.
The vessel functions as a floating laboratory to accelerate commercialization of China’s smart maritime technology, testing intelligent steering systems to reduce dependence on foreign tech while gathering real-sea data.
With a 10,000-nautical-mile range, Weilai is equipped to operate under complex conditions, supporting advanced research and development in sustainable and intelligent marine solutions.
