During Two Sessions 2026, President Xi Jinping urged Jiangsu Province to enhance people’s livelihoods and cultivate talent, asking the province to address emerging challenges and explore new solutions. Zhao Yunfei reported that deputies presented updates on local development during the deliberation.
President Xi highlighted raising incomes for both urban and rural residents, promoting more balanced and inclusive development, and ensuring Jiangsu plays a leading role in implementing China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. He also stressed integrating education, science, technology, and talent development to drive innovation and common prosperity.
Officials including Yang Hengjun from a Jiangsu village and Zhang Xiaohong from Soochow University shared progress on village development, higher education reforms, and AI integration. Olympic champion Zhang Yufei highlighted the promotion of sports talent. The session emphasized innovation, self-reliance, and nurturing new growth drivers to achieve high-quality development and better livelihoods.
