President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm greetings to China on the occasion of the Chinese New Year 2026, marking the Year of the Horse. Both leaders highlighted the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, praising the enduring “iron-clad” friendship and all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
President Zardari, in a message from the Presidency, praised shared values of energy, resilience, and progress, noting the historical depth of ties, dating back to meetings between Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Chairman Mao Zedong. He emphasized that the strategic partnership continues to guide Pakistan’s foreign policy and regional cooperation.
Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz Sharif, on a visit to Austria, sent greetings via social media, wishing President Xi Jinping, the people of China, and Chinese communities worldwide prosperity and success. He highlighted the Horse’s symbolism of speed, strength, and resilience, noting that these qualities mirror the shared vision for peace, development, and regional connectivity under the China-Pakistan partnership.
