The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) on Tuesday formally reopened Gwadar’s oldest commercial and business centre, Mulla Fazal Chowk, after completing a major overhaul, expansion, and renovation under the Old Town Rehabilitation Plan.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Gwadar lawmaker Maulana Hadait ur Rehman, along with senior officials including GDA Chief Engineer Haji Saeed Ahmed, Municipal Committee Chairman Majid Johar, and representatives of civil society. The reopening marked the completion of long-pending infrastructure improvements in the area.
Addressing the event, Maulana Hadait ur Rehman said chronic drainage overflow had troubled traders and residents for years, adding that the renovation successfully resolved the issue. GDA Chairman Moin ur Rehman said the project was completed under Phase I of the Old Town Rehabilitation Plan, with remaining work to be carried out in Phase II while maintaining transparency and construction quality.
