Pakistan’s own Urdu ChatGPT, “Qalb”, has officially launched, developed by Pakistani student Taimoor Hassan in the US. It is now the world’s largest Large Language Model exclusively for Urdu, trained on 1.97 billion tokens.
Qalb outperforms existing Urdu AI models across seven international evaluation frameworks, supporting local businesses, startups, educational platforms, digital services, and voice-based AI agents for over 230 million Urdu speakers worldwide.
Hassan and his team aim to fine-tune the model for niche industries, making AI innovation accessible in Pakistan and opening the door for a new generation of Urdu-first digital experiences.
