Chinese automaker Chery has officially begun local production of its new energy vehicle in Faisalabad. The first Jaecoo J7 SHS hybrid SUV rolled off the CKD assembly line on December 2, marking the first Chinese-branded NEV produced in Pakistan. This development highlights strengthened industrial collaboration and technology transfer between China and Pakistan.
The Jaecoo J7 SHS is designed for international markets and offers a claimed driving range exceeding 1,200 km. Local production aims to meet Pakistan’s growing demand for energy-efficient vehicles amid rising fuel prices. Industry analysts say this step could set a benchmark for future clean mobility initiatives in the country.
Hasan Mansha from Nishat Group, Chery’s local partner, emphasized that strong pre-sales and the successful rollout demonstrate the competitiveness of Chinese NEV technology in Pakistan. He added that the initiative will create jobs, train local workers, and help build expertise in hybrid vehicle manufacturing.
The project also signals a commitment to sustainable industrial development and the promotion of environmentally friendly transportation solutions. With increasing focus on green energy and fuel efficiency, local production of Chinese NEVs is expected to expand Pakistan’s automotive market while deepening bilateral cooperation.
