Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on young sinologists to serve as global ambassadors of China, sharing the country’s language, rich culture, and historical heritage with audiences worldwide. He emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy and mutual understanding in promoting peaceful and productive international relations.
In a detailed letter addressed to 61 scholars from 51 countries attending the 2025 World Chinese Language Conference in Beijing, Xi praised their dedication to studying Chinese culture and encouraged them to actively facilitate intercultural dialogue. He highlighted that their work is crucial for creating a nuanced and authentic portrayal of China beyond stereotypes or limited narratives.
Xi underscored that sinology represents a shared heritage of humanity, stressing that the study of Chinese language and culture is not only a scholarly pursuit but also a bridge for international collaboration. He urged participants to present a multi-dimensional and accurate view of China, encompassing its traditions, modern advancements, and global contributions.
The President expressed hope that these young scholars will use their knowledge, creativity, and energy to foster global understanding, strengthen people-to-people connections, and contribute meaningfully to building a community with shared values, knowledge, and cooperation for a more harmonious world.
