Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal reaffirmed on Friday that poverty alleviation remains a core pillar of Pakistan’s national development strategy.
Marking the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, he emphasized that Pakistan is determined to build an equitable society where no citizen is left behind or deprived of basic needs.
He announced a new national initiative, Uraan Pakistan (Rise Pakistan), designed to promote sustainable development, social inclusion, and prosperity for all segments of society.
Moreover, Iqbal stressed that economic stability plays a vital role in reducing poverty. It fuels job creation, raises income levels, and gradually improves living standards. He noted that the government’s reform agenda focuses on creating an economy that benefits every citizen directly.
Turning to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the minister explained that the second phase prioritizes industrial and agricultural development. This focus, he said, aims to ensure inclusive growth and generate employment across multiple sectors.
He concluded by saying, “We are building a Pakistan where every citizen has access to decent employment, quality education, and better healthcare within a secure and hopeful future.”
