Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will elevate bilateral cooperation to new heights, with a strong focus on renewable energy, ports, biotechnology, and the livestock sector.
During his visit to Tianjin, the minister reviewed the Huan Sheng New Energy Solar Plant, which he described as an advanced, fully automated project symbolising the fourth industrial revolution. He stressed that Pakistan seeks to adopt such modern green energy solutions and called on Chinese companies to invest in the country’s renewable sector, particularly solar power.
Ahsan Iqbal further highlighted Pakistan’s intention to promote biotechnology collaboration in agriculture, creating platforms to fully utilise Chinese technology and expertise. He underscored that green and solar energy represent the future, and Pakistan is determined to benefit from China’s experience in these areas.
The minister also toured an animal vaccine manufacturing company and invited it to set up a facility in Pakistan. He emphasized that livestock is a vital component of Pakistan’s agri-economy, and ensuring disease-free animals would not only strengthen the sector but also significantly enhance the country’s meat exports.
CPEC Phase-II, he noted, is designed to open fresh opportunities for sustainable growth while positioning Pakistan as a hub for modern energy, agricultural innovation, and enhanced trade connectivity with China.
