Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, accompanied by Adviser on Commerce, Sk. Bashir Uddin paid a one-day official visit to Chittagong, where they engaged with the local business community and explored avenues to strengthen bilateral trade.
The delegation was welcomed by the district administration at Shah Amanat International Airport before beginning a series of meetings with the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), ship-breaking industry representatives, and Chittagong Port officials.
Business leaders at CCCI emphasised the need for resumption of direct flights, improved shipping links, and trade digitisation to facilitate smoother transactions. Both sides also discussed opportunities for collaboration in ready-made garments, agriculture, healthcare, leather, and essential commodities. The formulation of a Pakistan-Bangladesh Trade and Investment Road Map was highlighted as a key initiative.
The Minister announced that a Joint Working Group on Trade will soon be established to institutionalise dialogue between the two countries. The delegation further invited Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to participate in the 3rd International Food and Agricultural Exhibition scheduled for 25–27 November 2025 in Karachi.
During field visits, the delegation toured the Kabir Ship Recycling Facilities to examine potential cooperation in ship-building, breaking, and recycling. They also received a briefing from the Chittagong Port Authority on single-window operations, port modernisation, and ongoing digitisation efforts.
Both countries expressed keen interest in exploring trilateral trade opportunities with Africa and Central Asia, recognising the vast potential for mutual growth in regional and global markets.
