Two new volumes compiling Xi Jinping’s discourses on comprehensively deepening reform have been officially published nationwide, underscoring the central role of reform in China’s modernisation drive. The works, released by the Central Party Literature Press and compiled by the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, provide an authoritative reference on the evolution of China’s reform strategy in the new era.
The first volume gathers 73 key speeches, writings, and remarks delivered between December 2012 and December 2018, a period marking the beginning of Xi’s leadership and his early emphasis on advancing reform across all sectors. The second volume includes 92 important works from January 2019 to April 2025, with several pieces published for the first time, highlighting the continued refinement of reform policies in line with China’s long-term national goals.
Through these volumes, Xi Jinping expounds on why reform must be comprehensively deepened in the new era and how it can be achieved. His insights guide addressing systemic challenges, adapting to global shifts, and aligning reforms with the broader vision of Chinese modernisation and national rejuvenation.
The compilation not only presents Xi’s new ideas, perspectives, and conclusions, but also serves as a roadmap for policymakers, scholars, and the public to understand the CPC’s reform agenda. By clarifying fundamental questions and offering strategic direction, the works emphasise reform as a driving force for building a strong, modern socialist country.
The release of these two volumes further reinforces the CPC’s message that comprehensively deepening reform remains essential for China’s future, shaping its economic transformation, governance improvements, and role in global affairs.
