In a landmark step toward bolstering defence ties, Pakistan and Türkiye concluded their first bilateral amphibious naval exercise in Karachi, aimed at strengthening operational coordination and enhancing maritime interoperability between the two allied forces.
Comprehensive Training Enhances Tactical Readiness
The drill brought together naval personnel from both countries to engage in a wide spectrum of training activities, including combat firing techniques, amphibious landing operations, convoy escorting, and military tactics in urban terrain. These exercises were tailored to boost tactical synergy and preparedness, particularly in littoral and coastal scenarios.
According to the Directorate General of Public Relations (Pakistan Navy), the exercise also featured live-fire drills and close combat simulations that tested the navy’s readiness to respond swiftly to various maritime challenges. The training culminated in a full-scale amphibious landing in a designated coastal zone, successfully validating the joint operational capabilities of both sides.
Deepening Strategic Defence Partnership
The bilateral drill underscored the robust and evolving defence partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye, reaffirming their shared goal of contributing to regional peace and security through regular joint military engagements.
This milestone exercise follows continued cooperation between the two countries, with Türkiye playing a key role in upgrading Pakistan’s Agosta 90B submarines and supplying advanced defence equipment, including drones. Earlier, Pakistan’s Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf was awarded the prestigious “Legion of Merit” by Türkiye for his efforts in enhancing naval collaboration.
The two nations regularly hold joint drills, such as the recent Ataturk-XIII in February, as part of their commitment to strategic alignment and collective readiness.
