Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed that any attempt to challenge Pakistan’s sovereignty or territorial integrity will be met with a prompt and uncompromising response. He made these remarks while addressing the graduating officers of the National Security and War Course at the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad on Monday.
He warned that any attack on Pakistan’s key population centers, military installations, economic hubs, or ports would trigger a deeply painful and more than proportionate response. The responsibility for any escalation, he stressed, would rest squarely on the aggressor, blinded by arrogance and strategic miscalculation, who dares provoke a sovereign nuclear state.
The Field Marshal criticized India’s failure during Operation Sindoor to meet its military objectives and condemned its attempts to justify this failure through flawed reasoning. He rejected claims of foreign support in Pakistan’s successful Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, calling them baseless and a refusal to recognize Pakistan’s own military capabilities. He also denounced India’s narrative that involves other nations in what was a bilateral conflict, seeing it as an attempt to engage in geopolitical bloc politics and project itself as a security provider in a region disillusioned by its extremist Hindutva-driven policies. In contrast, Pakistan, he said, has built principled diplomatic partnerships based on mutual respect and regional peace.
Discussing modern warfare, Syed Asim Munir emphasized the importance of mental preparedness, strategic clarity, and professional competence in confronting evolving threats. He praised institutions like NDU for enhancing civil-military cooperation and nurturing leadership equipped to deal with hybrid and conventional challenges effectively.
The Army Chief asserted that wars are not won through media narratives, imported weaponry, or political rhetoric, but through strong national resolve, professional skill, and institutional integrity.
He expressed complete confidence in the morale, professionalism, and readiness of Pakistan’s battle-hardened armed forces. Concluding his address, he urged the graduating officers to uphold the values of integrity, selfless service, and unwavering dedication to the country.
