As close neighbors with a longstanding friendship, China and Pakistan engage in normal defense and security cooperation that is not directed against any third party, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated on Monday.
During a regular press briefing, spokesperson Mao Ning responded to a question by emphasizing that India and Pakistan are and will remain neighbors to each other, as well as significant neighbors to China. She noted that China has been closely monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan in recent months and has actively promoted dialogue to help safeguard regional peace and stability.
Mao expressed China’s support for India and Pakistan resolving their disputes through dialogue and consultation. She affirmed that China welcomes constructive engagement between the two countries and is prepared to play a helpful role in this process.
Regarding China-India relations, Mao acknowledged they are currently at a critical point of progress. She reiterated China’s willingness to cooperate with India to advance their bilateral ties in a stable and positive direction.
