Over 15 Pakistani small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) participated in the 20th China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (CISMEF), held in Guangzhou, China’s southern economic hub. These businesses showcased a wide variety of Pakistani products to international audiences.
The four-day event, held from June 27 to 30, featured a Pakistani national pavilion, jointly inaugurated by Pakistan’s Consul General Sardar Muhammad and a local Chinese official. The pavilion displayed a range of items including onyx carvings, bronze ornaments, wooden crafts, traditional furniture, and products from emerging e-commerce brands.
A special section dedicated to Asian brands included popular Pakistani food exports such as pine nuts, biscuits, Himalayan pink salt, and Sindhri mangoes, offering visitors a taste of Pakistan’s agricultural richness.
Coinciding with the United Nations’ Micro-, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Day, this year’s fair attracted more than 2,000 exhibitors globally, according to the organizers.
Cindy Chen, a regional director at China-Pakistan trade firm Zhitong Batie, highlighted that the platform is ideal for promoting Pakistan’s non-traditional exports. She noted the strong interest from Chinese buyers in high-quality organic Pakistani food products, especially mangoes.
Since its inception in 2004, CISMEF has grown into a major international event for SMEs, drawing officials, industry experts, business associations, and companies from China and abroad.
