Pakistan, Türkiye reaffirm multifaceted cooperation as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and senior officials are on official visit to Türkiye.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt thanks to the Turkish government and people for their steadfast support of Pakistan during recent developments in South Asia.
He conveyed this message during a warm and friendly meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul.
The Prime Minister praised Türkiye’s principled stance and the strong display of solidarity from the Turkish people, describing it as a source of comfort and strength for Pakistan.
He emphasized the remarkable dedication, bravery, and spirit of sacrifice shown by Pakistan’s armed forces, along with the unwavering patriotism of the people, which significantly contributed to the country’s decisive success in Marak-e-Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.
Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of enhancing economic cooperation, particularly through joint ventures and increased bilateral investment.
He identified renewable energy, information technology, defense production, infrastructure, and agriculture as key sectors with strong potential for collaboration between the two countries.
Both leaders conducted a comprehensive review of bilateral ties and reaffirmed their commitment to further elevate their strategic partnership.
They also assessed progress on the implementation of important decisions made during the seventh session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council held in Islamabad on February 13, 2025.
The two sides agreed to intensify efforts to achieve the previously set target of five billion dollars in annual bilateral trade.
In addition to bilateral matters, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdogan reaffirmed their firm support for each other’s core concerns, including the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
They expressed serious concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and jointly called for an immediate ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian access for affected Palestinians.
The meeting reaffirmed the deep-rooted, historical, and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Türkiye, grounded in shared values, mutual respect, and a shared vision for progress.
It concluded with a renewed pledge to deepen multifaceted cooperation between the two nations.
The leaders committed to continued close collaboration for regional peace, sustainable development, and the prosperity of their people.
President Erdogan also hosted a dinner in honor of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his accompanying delegation.
