China, Pakistan reaffirm all weather strategic partnership as both foreign ministers met in Beijing.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated on Tuesday that China welcomes and supports efforts by Pakistan and India to resolve their disputes through dialogue, pursue a comprehensive and enduring ceasefire, and seek long-term solutions.

Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made these remarks during his meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar. He emphasized that peaceful resolution aligns with both nations’ fundamental and long-term interests, promotes regional stability, and meets the shared expectations of the global community.

Wang noted that China and Pakistan have maintained close strategic communication, focusing on deepening traditional ties, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, and tackling common challenges. This demonstrates the strong and mature nature of their bilateral relationship.

He further affirmed China’s steadfast support for Pakistan as a loyal and time-tested friend. China, he said, backs Pakistan’s efforts to uphold its sovereignty and territorial integrity, follow a development path suitable to its needs, combat terrorism, and play a stronger role in regional and global affairs. He also reiterated China’s commitment to enhancing their all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.

Wang called for both countries to jointly build a more advanced version of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and to deepen cooperation in key sectors such as industry, agriculture, energy, mineral resources, human capital development, counter-terrorism, and security.

Dar expressed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for its close and brotherly relationship with China, reaffirmed Pakistan’s adherence to the one-China policy, and voiced support for China’s defense of its core national interests and dignity.

He praised China’s recent developmental achievements, particularly in innovation and science and technology, and expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to enhance broad-based cooperation. Dar also expressed hope for continued Chinese support as Pakistan works to address current challenges and advance national development, peace, and stability.

Dar assured that Pakistan is committed to ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals, infrastructure, and institutions operating within the country.

He also updated Wang Yi on the latest developments following the Pakistan-India ceasefire understanding and shared Islamabad’s perspectives. He thanked China for consistently supporting justice, promoting peace, and playing a constructive role in maintaining the ceasefire. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and expressed openness to continuing dialogue with India to reduce tensions.

Both sides also discussed enhancing regional collaboration and increasing cooperation within multilateral frameworks.
