Pakistani gems shine at China Nanjing Expo 2025 as around 10 companies are showcasing a diverse range of specimens.
Several Pakistani gems and minerals companies (around ten in total) are showcasing their unique and exquisite specimens at the 2025 China Nanjing (International) Mineral, Gemstone & Fossil Expo, which is taking place from May 15 to 19.
Now in its third edition, the expo has drawn over 500 exhibitors from more than 50 countries, turning the expansive 40,000-square-meter venue into a premier global platform for displaying minerals, gemstones, fossils, and meteorites.
Pakistani participants are presenting an impressive variety of emeralds, tourmalines, topaz, morganite, quartz, aquamarine, pyrite, marble, and onyx sourced from regions including Gilgit Baltistan, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These high-quality pieces, suited for jewelry and decorative uses, have captured notable attention from international buyers and collectors.
Pakistan is recognized as one of the leading global producers of premium gemstones, such as Swat Valley emeralds and pink topaz from Katlang. However, despite this abundant resource base, mining currently accounts for only 3% of Pakistan’s GDP. To harness the economic potential of mineral exports, the Pakistani government introduced the National Minerals Harmonisation Framework 2025 at April’s Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum. This comprehensive policy framework is designed to simplify investment procedures and create a more investor-friendly regulatory climate, aiming to spur growth within the country’s mining industry.
Ghulam Mustafa of Fine Art Minerals, a returning exhibitor, expressed pride in Pakistan’s rich mineral heritage. He highlighted that Pakistan’s geological wealth is vast and that trade ties with China are expanding beyond gemstones into industrial minerals. Mustafa noted that the reception to their exhibit has been outstanding, with visitors showing great admiration for Pakistan’s natural resources. Similarly, Muhammad Sadiq from Fine Nagar Gems & Minerals returned with an expanded collection. He shared optimism about this year’s sales and orders based on positive feedback from the previous year, adding that Pakistan’s minerals hold a competitive advantage and that the Chinese market offers significant opportunities. Sadiq emphasized their goal to strengthen cooperation in this sector further.
