Chinese FM chairs 4th ministerial meeting of China-CELAC Forum being held in Beijing to move forward with deepened cooperation.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi chaired the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC Forum in Beijing, which brought together foreign ministers, representatives from CELAC member states, and leaders of regional organizations.
Wang highlighted that the forum, launched a decade ago, has grown into a crucial platform for equitable dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) nations.
He noted that China-LAC cooperation is grounded in openness and win-win outcomes, rejecting bloc-based rivalry, and serving as a model for new forms of international relations and collaboration among Global South countries.
As fellow developing nations, Wang emphasized the need for China and LAC countries to jointly protect their legitimate interests and promote shared development.
He also mentioned that President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech at the forum’s opening ceremony, providing strategic direction for the future of China-LAC relations.
Wang stated that China aims to work with LAC countries to implement the leaders’ consensus by supporting each other’s core interests, deepening economic and trade ties, enhancing cooperation in peace and security, promoting cultural exchange, and defending global fairness and justice.
LAC foreign ministers welcomed China’s cooperation proposals and President Xi’s global initiatives, expressing eagerness to leverage the forum to tap into China’s development momentum, broaden comprehensive cooperation, and achieve shared prosperity.
They reaffirmed their commitment to the one-China principle, the principles of sovereign equality and non-interference, and their support for multilateralism while striving together for a peaceful, just, inclusive, green, and sustainable world.
The meeting concluded with the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and the China-CELAC Joint Action Plan for Cooperation in Key Areas for 2025–2027.
