The project to supply 20 MW of power to Gwadar Port and Gwadar Free Zone South began on May 8, with an estimated cost of Rs 727.738 million, funded by the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).
QUESCO has delivered the required infrastructure, such as power cables and poles, to the site, and the installation of the electricity poles is now progressing rapidly.
A QUESCO representative stated that four independent 5 MW feeders will deliver power to Gwadar Port and Gwadar Free Zone South from the Deep Sea Port grid station. He further added that once completed, the project will fulfill the long-term energy needs of the port, with expectations of completion by the end of June this year.
The QUESCO official also mentioned that the company has been supplying 10 MW of electricity to the Gwadar North Free Zone, assisting investors and businesses since the zone’s inception last year.
Before this, Gwadar Port depended on costly electricity from an 8.5 MW diesel generator, leading to significant operational expenses.
