Pakistan launches Abdali missile during exercise INDUS signifying defense readiness and operational preparedness of Pakistan Armed forces.
On Saturday, Pakistan successfully conducted a training launch of the Abdali weapon system, a surface-to-surface missile with a 450-kilometre range, as part of Exercise INDUS. The military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), reported that the launch was aimed at ensuring the operational readiness of troops and validating important technical specifications, such as the missile’s advanced navigation system and enhanced maneuverability features.
The training launch was observed by several key figures, including the commander of the army’s strategic forces command, senior officials from the Strategic Plans Division, Army Strategic Forces Command, and scientists and engineers from Pakistan’s strategic organizations, as reported by the ISPR.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, and the services chiefs congratulated the troops, scientists, and engineers involved in the launch. They expressed full confidence in the operational preparedness and technical capabilities of Pakistan’s Strategic Forces, emphasizing their ability to maintain credible minimum deterrence and protect national security against any threats.
This launch occurs amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and India, particularly after the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir. India has accused Pakistan of being responsible for the attack, though it has not provided evidence, which Pakistan has strongly rejected. In response, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has granted the military “full operational freedom,” while Pakistan has warned of the potential for imminent strikes by its neighbor.
