Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed China’s support for Iran’s engagement with relevant parties and its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on nuclear matters, welcoming dialogue on the issue.
Wang, who is also a senior official in the Communist Party of China, shared these views during a meeting with Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, held in Brasilia.
Ahmadian reaffirmed Iran’s position that it does not seek nuclear weapons and expressed readiness to hold talks based on mutual respect and equality.
Wang acknowledged Iran’s stance on nuclear weapons, endorsed its right to peaceful nuclear energy, and commended its continued efforts through diplomacy.
Both sides agreed to stay in close contact over the nuclear issue to ensure constructive dialogue continues.
Wang noted that China-Iran relations have remained stable and positive despite external pressures, thanks to the strategic leadership of both countries’ presidents.
China, he emphasized, stands with Iran in protecting its sovereignty and security and opposes any outside interference in its internal matters.
He further stated that China seeks to deepen cooperation with Iran at all levels, strengthen mutual coordination, defend shared interests, and uphold multilateralism and international norms, thereby advancing their strategic partnership.
Wang highlighted the importance of implementing the China-Iran comprehensive cooperation plan to bring concrete benefits and strengthen bilateral ties.
Ahmadian, in response, noted the high level of political trust between Iran and China, saying that enhancing their strategic partnership is a widely supported goal within Iran.
He added that Iran looks forward to boosting high-level engagement with China and expanding collaboration in trade, technology, infrastructure, and connectivity to advance their relationship.
Ahmadian also appreciated China’s support for Iran on multilateral platforms and its role in promoting Iran-Saudi Arabia reconciliation.
He stressed Iran’s willingness to work with China against foreign interference, unfair tariffs, and sanctions, and to support a fair international order.
