99 Gwadar students awarded Chinese scholarships showcasing growing bilateral cooperation between China and Pakistan in various fields.
The growing educational cooperation between Pakistan and China has led to 99 Gwadar students receiving the “Chinese Consular Scholarship Program” during a ceremony held at the Gwadar Business Center on April 29. The scholarship was awarded to 30 female and 39 male students from various fields, including Pharm D, BBA, Sociology, Fine Arts, MBBS, MPhil, B.Ed, LLB, Public Administration, Civil Engineering, Radiology, Fisheries, Political Science, Botany, Bio Chemistry, and Management Science. These students are from the University of Gwadar, the Pak-China Technical & Vocational Institute, and other institutions across the country. Among them, 69 students are from Gwadar studying in professional educational institutions, including the University of Balochistan and other academic institutes in Balochistan and Sindh.
Speaking online at the ceremony, Chinese Consul General in Karachi, Yang Yundong, called the event a significant milestone in providing deserving students with quality education across various fields. He also highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the Chinese government in Gwadar, such as solar panel distribution, food programs, livelihood support, and educational and health development projects. He assured that more such projects would be launched in the coming months.
The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including Deputy Commissioner of Gwadar, Hamood Rahman Ranjha, and Mr. Liu Eho, Deputy General Manager of the Chinese Free Zone. The students expressed their gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Hamood Rahman for his continuous support towards education and thanked the Chinese Embassy for their cooperation and assistance in the scholarship program.
