PCFH in Gwadar expands with new dermatology unit which offers a variety of expertise and services.
The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) launched a dermatology department at the China-aided Pak-China Friendship Hospital on Wednesday. The inauguration ceremony was attended by local officials and residents, with GDA Director General Saif Ullah Khaitaran unveiling the new department.
The dermatology department offers a wide range of expertise, including genetics, immunology, melanoma, oral diseases, pathology, pediatrics, pharmacology, public health, and surgery. Specialists will also perform Mohs micrographic surgery, laser surgery, cosmetic procedures, and other dermatologic surgeries.
Residents of Gwadar in need of advanced skin care can now receive treatment for complex conditions like blistering diseases, bullous pemphigoid, burning mouth syndrome, connective tissue diseases, and contact dermatitis through the hospital’s dermatology services.
The department is also responsible for diagnostic procedures such as skin biopsies and specimen collection to detect bacterial, fungal, and viral infections. Additionally, telemedicine services are available for patients residing in remote areas.
During the ceremony, Director General Khaitaran announced future plans to open gastroenterology, cardiology, and neurology departments at the hospital. He emphasized that the Pak-China Friendship Hospital, a key project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), will receive significant infrastructural improvements, including a new medical college and additional healthcare facilities.
This development follows other recent advancements at the hospital. In February, the hospital introduced Endourology, a minimally invasive surgical procedure using a camera, marking a first for the facility. The hospital has also begun offering modern laser surgery for bladder stone removal.
The Pak-China Friendship Hospital, which is regulated by the GDA and managed by the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN), provides advanced healthcare services to Gwadar and the broader Balochistan region. The hospital’s medical staff benefits from state-of-the-art facilities designed to support modern treatment and care.
