On Saturday morning, a team of 16 Chinese volunteers departed for earthquake-stricken Myanmar to assist in disaster relief and rescue operations.

The volunteers, all seasoned members of the Blue Sky Rescue team—a Chinese civilian relief organization—left from Ruili City in Yunnan province, which shares a border with Myanmar, at approximately 9:30 am.

They were equipped with essential emergency supplies, including first aid kits, power generators, lighting equipment, and demolition tools, traveling in a convoy of five vehicles.

“We are the first group, and additional teams will follow,” stated Gao Hengyi, head of the Ruili branch of BSR.

Their mission follows the deployment of a 37-member rescue team from Yunnan province, which had already arrived in Myanmar earlier on Saturday.
