China urged G7 countries to work towards global solidarity and stop actions that undermine sovereignty of China.

China has urged the G7 to cease actions that undermine its sovereignty and interfere in its internal matters while calling for greater efforts toward global solidarity and cooperation, stated Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning on Monday.

Mao made these remarks in response to the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Statement and Declaration on Maritime Security and Prosperity, which included comments on Taiwan, maritime issues, alleged Chinese support for Russia, concerns over “overcapacity,” and military expansion. She criticized these statements as irresponsible.

According to Mao, the G7’s joint statement deliberately distorts facts, misrepresents China’s stance, and interferes in its domestic affairs. China strongly condemns and firmly rejects these claims, having already lodged serious protests with the relevant countries.

She emphasized that Taiwan remains a core Chinese interest that does not tolerate external interference. She also stated that the South China Sea remains stable, with no threats to navigation and overflight freedom, urging the G7 to refrain from provoking disputes.

Regarding Ukraine, Mao reiterated that China has consistently promoted peace talks, has not supplied any lethal weapons to any party in the conflict, and strictly controls the export of dual-use goods. She rejected the G7’s accusations as unjustified blame-shifting.

Mao further clarified that China maintains a nuclear force only at the minimum level necessary for national security and that its defense spending is open, reasonable, and transparent. She criticized the G7 for ignoring U.S. responsibilities in disarmament and the risks posed by AUKUS while unfairly targeting China.

On economic matters, Mao dismissed the claims of “Chinese overcapacity” as baseless and called on the G7 to stop politicizing trade, destabilizing global supply chains, and weaponizing economic relations.

China urged the G7 to abandon its Cold War mindset, ideological biases, and interference in China’s affairs. Instead, Mao called on the group to focus on global challenges, promote development, and foster international cooperation.
