The federal cabinet, following the recommendation of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom, has approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cybersecurity collaboration between Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team and China’s National Computer Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center.
This MoU aims to foster cooperation in cybersecurity through research, consultation, and training. It also focuses on coordination in preventing cyber threats, policy formulation, cybersecurity drills, intelligence sharing, capacity building, and awareness promotion in the field of cybersecurity.
Additionally, the cabinet approved an agreement between the United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom for establishing an ITU Accelerator Center. Under this agreement, the National Incubation Center in Islamabad will function as an IT Accelerator Center, with efforts directed toward enhancing its capabilities.
During the cabinet meeting, recommendations by several other ministries were also taken into consideration and subsequent approval.
