At the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), deputies of the 14th NPC and also prominent industry leaders conduct dialogue with overseas media journalists, shedding light on China’s progress in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, new energy vehicles, and battery recycling.

Wu Fengli, Board Chairman and President of Guangdong Topstar Technology Co., Ltd., emphasized China’s rapid progress in the “AI + robotics” sector. He noted that China’s technological innovation has reached a globally competitive level, challenging the dominance of international enterprises.

Wu stated that Topstar plans to collaborate with leading domestic large-model companies to develop humanoid intelligent robots. Topstar’s core competitiveness lies in its deep integration of AI with robotics, ensuring high efficiency and precision in industrial manufacturing.

A journalist also inquired about international collaborations in the robotics sector. Regarding concerns about AI-driven automation leading to unemployment, Wu reassured that robotics aims to complement human labor rather than replace it.

Wu also acknowledged the growing global discourse on AI ethics. He reassured that Topstar considers all ethical responsibilities and align the industry with societal values.

He Xiaopeng, Chairman of Guangdong XPENG Motors Technology Co., Ltd., discussed XPENG’s strategic goals for international expansion. He highlighted the company’s commitment to entering over 60 countries by 2025, with the aim of becoming one of the top three global exporters of new energy vehicles (NEVs) by 2027. The company also plans to achieve overseas sales exceeding 50% by 2030.

He was also asked about the outlook for NEVs in Southeast Asia and he expressed optimism about the growth and transition towards green transportation in the region.

Furthermore, Li Changdong, President of Guangdong Brunp Recycling Technology Co., Ltd., provided insights into China’s leadership in battery recycling and sustainable development. As a subsidiary of CATL, Brunp Recycling is at the forefront of solving industrial waste challenges.

The discussion of Li revolved around three main aspects. First, the transition towards green energy and drive towards low carbon emissions. Second the technological innovation that Brunp Recycling Technology is undertaking in order to achieve its goals. And lastly the impact that the measures taken by the industry would leave of ordinary consumers.

A journalist questioned the economic feasibility of recycling lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, given their lack of high-value metals, to which Li provided insights into how the company overcomes such challenges.

The discussions with these three industry leaders underscore China’s determination to lead in AI, robotics, NEVs, and green technology.
