Ambassador Jiang Zaidong calls on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as both side discussed bilateral ties and strengthening partnership.
Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister today. During their meeting, the Prime Minister extended warm greetings and best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.
He also congratulated the Chinese leadership and people on successfully convening the “Two Sessions” of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
Expressing satisfaction over the strong and growing Pakistan-China strategic partnership, the Prime Minister highlighted the significance of President Asif Ali Zardari’s recent visit to Beijing in further strengthening bilateral ties.
He expressed gratitude for China’s unwavering support on Pakistan’s key national issues and reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast backing of China on matters of core interest. He emphasized the mutual commitment of both nations to further enhancing the “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.”
Discussions also covered progress on security and counter-terrorism cooperation. The Prime Minister noted with pleasure that this year marks the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to Pakistan in 2015.
Reiterating Pakistan’s strong ties with China, he extended a warm invitation to President Xi Jinping to undertake a state visit to Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of close collaboration between both countries to ensure the timely implementation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
In response, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked the Prime Minister for his warm sentiments and good wishes for the Chinese leadership. He briefed him on the latest developments in Pakistan-China bilateral cooperation.
Acknowledging the government’s efforts in stabilizing the economy, the Ambassador reaffirmed China’s continued support for Pakistan’s national development and economic progress.
