The third session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), China’s top legislative body, commenced on Wednesday morning at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, along with other national leaders, was present at the opening meeting.
During the session, Premier Li Qiang presented a government work report, outlining key developments and future plans.
Lawmakers examined a report from the State Council on the implementation of the 2024 national economic and social development plan, along with the proposed plan for 2025. They also reviewed the draft plan for economic and social development in the upcoming year.
Additionally, legislators assessed a report from the State Council regarding the execution of the central and local budgets for 2024, as well as the proposed central and local budgets for 2025.
Li Hongzhong, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, provided an explanation of a proposed amendment to the Law on Deputies to the National People’s Congress and Local People’s Congresses at Various Levels.
