China willing to work with Europe against protectionism, spokesperson for the third session of 14th NPC stated on Tuesday.
A Chinese spokesperson emphasized on Tuesday that China places great importance on its relationship with Europe, highlighting that both sides act as partners that support each other’s success.
Lou Qinjian, the spokesperson for the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress, made these remarks during a press conference held ahead of the session’s opening on Wednesday.
According to Lou, maintaining a healthy and stable China-Europe relationship serves the fundamental and long-term interests of both parties while also meeting the broader expectations of the global community.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and the European Union, underscoring the enduring strength of their relationship.
Lou pointed out that history has repeatedly demonstrated that China and Europe do not have fundamental conflicts of interest or geopolitical disputes; instead, they have continuously worked as partners in mutual success.
He noted that economic and trade relations between China and Europe have remained stable, benefiting both sides by fostering economic growth and contributing to the resilience of global industrial and supply chains.
Lou emphasized that China-Europe relations are independent and not influenced by any third party, reinforcing their strategic autonomy.
China remains committed to working with Europe to implement key agreements reached by their leaders, enhance cooperation in multiple sectors, and jointly address global challenges while opposing unilateralism and protectionism, he added.
