China is set to launch a multipurpose project aimed at modernizing Pakistan’s gems and jewelry industry. Pakistani gemstones, particularly emeralds, are considered among the finest in the world, with a strong global market presence.
The announcement was made during a meeting between a three-member Chinese delegation, led by Wang Xiaofeng, Vice President of Huaruiguoxing Culture Group, and Muhammad Ahmad, President of the Gold and Gems Art Promotion Council. The meeting took place at a three-day food expo organized by the Trade Development Authority. The Chinese delegation also included Ms. Li Weishu, Vice President, and Ms. Wang Ziqi, Marketing Manager.
During the discussion, Muhammad Ahmad highlighted Pakistan’s strong trade interest with China, which is the largest buyer of Pakistani gems. He emphasized the importance of launching a multipurpose project to further boost trade relations. He also stressed that exchange visits between delegations from both countries could significantly enhance trade prospects.
Wang Xiaofeng, head of the Chinese delegation, assured that he would discuss Pakistan’s proposals with his government to move forward with the project. He also extended an invitation to a Pakistani delegation to visit China’s gems and jewelry sector and participate in a single-country exhibition.
China has expressed full readiness to assist Pakistan in cutting, polishing, and adding value to gemstones. Additionally, the Chinese side will provide training to Pakistani workers, equipping them with advanced skills to enhance the industry’s global competitiveness.
The proposed initiative is expected to strengthen trade relations between China and Pakistan, while also promoting Pakistan’s gems and jewelry industry on an international level.
