Pakistan-Azerbaijan partner for Green Energy expansion during a high level meeting between Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan and Minister for Climate Change.
Azerbaijan and Pakistan have taken a major step toward addressing climate change and advancing sustainable energy by agreeing to collaborate on renewable energy production, transmission, and trade. This partnership was formalized during a high-level meeting between Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Ali Alizadeh, and Pakistan’s Coordinator to the Prime Minister for Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, on Friday.
The meeting focused on the urgent need for transitioning to sustainable energy sources to align with global decarbonization efforts. Both countries stressed the importance of adopting green technologies such as green hydrogen and green ammonia, which play a crucial role in cutting carbon emissions and improving energy security.
Green hydrogen, which is produced using renewable energy, serves as a clean alternative for fuel and energy storage. Similarly, green ammonia technology presents a cost-effective way to decrease dependence on fossil fuels. Romina Khurshid Alam emphasized that regional cooperation is vital for fully utilizing the potential of green energy technologies.
She highlighted that a strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Pakistan could pave the way for joint development and transmission of green energy, which is key to ensuring energy security and promoting a more sustainable regional future. Ambassador Ali Alizadeh pointed out the importance of the Green Energy Corridor, an initiative currently involving Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
This initiative seeks to establish a renewable energy network that benefits both local markets and international partners. He described the partnership as a crucial step toward regional energy integration, supporting economic growth, and accelerating the transition to clean energy.
Alam reaffirmed Pakistan’s interest in exploring the possibility of joining the Green Energy Corridor. She noted that this initiative would not only strengthen ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan but also help both nations achieve their climate-related commitments for environmental sustainability.
The collaboration between Azerbaijan and Pakistan represents a significant milestone in the global fight against climate change.
