Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reaffirmed their strong and historic relations during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who serves as the Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai.
The discussion took place on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Dubai’s impressive evolution into a global hub for business and innovation, attributing its success to the UAE’s forward-thinking leadership. He also outlined Pakistan’s investor-friendly policies and encouraged Emirati investors to explore promising sectors such as energy, infrastructure, mining, and information technology.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid welcomed Pakistan’s proactive approach to strengthening economic ties and expressed the UAE’s eagerness to collaborate in emerging fields like artificial intelligence and climate resilience initiatives. Both leaders agreed to sustain high-level engagements to enhance economic and strategic partnerships, according to an official statement.
Additionally, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reminisced about his visits to the UAE in the 1970s, acknowledging its remarkable growth over the decades. He also conveyed his gratitude to the UAE leadership for their continued support and hospitality towards the Pakistani community. In response, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid appreciated the valuable contributions of Pakistani expatriates to the UAE’s development.
In a separate exchange, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid on the successful hosting of the World Governments Summit 2025, acknowledging it as a reflection of the UAE’s increasing diplomatic influence on the global stage.
