China welcomes Nigeria’s inclusion in BRICS as partner country, standing as an important country in Global South.
China has extended its welcome and congratulations to Nigeria for joining BRICS as a partner country, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning announced on Monday.
Speaking at a regular press conference, Mao highlighted Nigeria’s entry into BRICS as the bloc’s ninth partner country.
Mao emphasized that Nigeria, as a prominent developing nation and a key member of the Global South, will benefit from its involvement in BRICS while also advancing the interests of the bloc, its partners, and the Global South. This development will further enhance the BRICS mechanism.
The addition of Nigeria expands BRICS’ representation, strengthening its global influence and broadening its appeal, Mao remarked.
China, committed to openness, inclusiveness, and mutual benefit, expressed its readiness to collaborate with other BRICS members and partners. This partnership aims to foster practical cooperation across various domains, boost high-quality development within BRICS, and contribute to building a shared future for humanity, Mao concluded.
