China is eager to strengthen exchanges, communication, and uphold genuine multilateralism during its participation in the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on Friday.
Speaking at a routine press briefing, Guo was asked about China’s expectations for this year’s WEF meeting. He confirmed that Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, who is also a Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, will attend the event in Davos, Switzerland. Ding’s visit will also include trips to Switzerland and the Netherlands from January 19 to 24.
Vice Premier Ding will deliver a keynote address on China during the opening plenary session, Guo noted.
China aims to foster deeper exchanges with all participants, enhance mutual trust, and build consensus on cooperation, said Guo. The country seeks to champion true multilateralism, advocate for an equitable and organized multipolar world, support inclusive economic globalization, and contribute positively to global economic governance and growth.
Recognized as a global economic trendsetter, the WEF is one of the most influential international forums. This year’s meeting, themed “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age,” invites participants to explore ways to strengthen cooperation and seize opportunities in the evolving smart era, Guo added.
