Cutting edge ship enhances China’s ocean discovering as a new vessel was delivered in Guangzhou.
A state-of-the-art multifunctional scientific research vessel was officially delivered on Thursday in Guangzhou’s Nansha district, Guangdong province, marking a significant boost to China’s ocean exploration and scientific research capabilities.
Named Tansuo 3 or Exploration 3, the vessel was constructed by Guangzhou Shipyard International Co. He Guangwei, GSI’s deputy chief engineer and the vessel’s chief designer, highlighted its ability to overcome challenges faced by other full-sea operating vessels.
He emphasized the ship’s advanced features, noting that it can navigate polar regions, breaking through ice up to 120 centimeters thick and snow layers of 20 centimeters. During its trial voyage, the vessel successfully handled waves exceeding 4 meters, maintaining full speed while showcasing its impressive wave resistance.
