Huawei launches Mate 70 and Mate X6 and emphasized on innovation in its new series.
Chinese smartphone maker Huawei introduced its latest flagship smartphone series, the Mate 70, on Tuesday. Equipped with the company’s proprietary HarmonyOS Next operating system, which is no longer compatible with Android apps, the new phones are seen as a potential game-changer in the smartphone market.
During the launch event in Shenzhen, Yu Chengdong, head of Huawei’s consumer business, emphasized the innovation in the series, stating, “The only phone that can be better than a Mate is a new Mate.”
As with recent product launches, Huawei did not disclose details about the system-on-a-chip (SoC), a critical component of the new Mate 70 series.
The company also unveiled the Mate X6, its latest model in the double-fold smartphone series. The premium version of the Mate X6 features support for Beidou satellite messaging, the Tiantong satellite network, and a new low-orbit satellite internet service scheduled for launch in the second half of 2025.
