China, WHO to host global traditional medicine conference in December. The role of tradition medicine has been growing in promoting public health.
China, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), will host a global conference on traditional medicine in Beijing on December 3 and 4, as announced during a press briefing on Thursday.
As public awareness of health and lifestyles evolves, so do medical practices, leading to an increased demand for traditional medicine. There is growing recognition of traditional medicine’s role in promoting public health and preventing chronic and infectious diseases.
The conference will center on the themes of diversity, heritage, and innovation in traditional medicine to benefit the global community. Topics will include scientific research, education, and the digital and technological advancements of traditional medicine.
International leaders, government officials, ambassadors to China, and experts from the medical field have been invited, with about 1,200 attendees expected at the opening ceremony. Organizers include the Beijing municipal government, the National Health Commission, and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
