Chinese President Xi Jinping extended his congratulations to Donald Trump on Thursday for his election as the President of the United States.
Xi emphasized the importance of both countries discovering a constructive way to cooperate in this new era, to benefit not just their own nations but also the broader international community.
Reflecting on historical lessons, Xi highlighted that China and the United States prosper through cooperation and suffer from confrontation. He stressed that a stable, healthy, and sustainable relationship between the two nations aligns with their mutual interests and reflects the desires of the global community.
Xi expressed his hope that both sides would adhere to principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. He called for strengthened dialogue, effective communication, proper management of differences, and expansion of mutually beneficial collaborations.
Additionally, on the same day, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng offered congratulations to J.D. Vance on his election as Vice President of the United States.
