China welcomes Apple’s stable cooperation with Chinese partners: commerce minister as he met with CEO of Apple Tim Cook.

Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with Apple CEO Tim Cook on Friday, expressing China’s support for Apple’s stable collaboration with Chinese partners to drive mutual growth.

During the meeting, the two discussed Apple’s business trajectory in China and the broader China-U.S. economic and trade landscape. Cook reaffirmed Apple’s commitment to long-term growth and expanded investment in China, according to a press release from the Ministry of Commerce.

Highlighting recent measures to enhance market openness and address the concerns of foreign-invested businesses, Wang encouraged Apple to leverage these opportunities and deepen its engagement in China.

“China will continue to optimize its business environment and provide high-quality services for foreign enterprises,” Wang emphasized.

He further noted that mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation between China and the U.S. aligns with both countries’ fundamental interests, providing stability in their bilateral relationship.

Wang warned that overemphasis on national security can hinder normal economic and trade interactions and stated that China is open to fostering healthier economic and trade ties through regular government-business dialogues.

Cook highlighted that China’s rapid development has greatly supported Apple’s own growth. Viewing China as both a vital market and a crucial partner in its supply chain, Apple plans to boost its investments, especially in supply chain management and research and development.

Cook added that Apple would continue to act as a conduit for economic and trade communications between China and the United States.
