Pakistan’s apparel exports to China surge by 5% as it shows an increasing demand of Pakistani apparels in China.
Pakistan’s apparel industry is steadily increasing its presence in the Chinese market, with exports of men’s and women’s clothing rising by around five percent in the first seven months of 2024.
The total export value exceeded $18.03 million, reflecting a growing demand for Pakistani garments in China.
Men’s clothing exports reached $13.10 million, while women’s apparel exports were $4.93 million. These figures show an increase compared to the same period last year when men’s clothing exports were $12.65 million and women’s apparel was $4.66 million. Notably, men’s apparel exports have grown by 6% this year.
Ghulam Qadir, the Commercial Counsellor at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, attributed the growing popularity of Pakistani apparel in China to its high quality and competitive pricing.
Growing Trade Relations between China and Pakistan
He also highlighted that Pakistan’s strategic location, enabling efficient land trade with China, and the zero-tariff benefits under the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA) have given Pakistani exporters an advantage, making their products more appealing to Chinese consumers.
Furthermore, a Pakistani textile delegation will participate in the upcoming China International Import Expo (CIIE 2024), where they will showcase their latest designs in a fashion show featuring Pakistani models, aiming to increase Pakistan’s visibility in the Chinese fashion market.
Additionally, a large Chinese delegation will attend “Texpo,” a leading textile and leather exhibition organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in Karachi this October. These events are essential for strengthening trade relations and creating new business opportunities between the two countries.
Lastly, with these positive developments and initiatives, Pakistan’s apparel export industry is well-positioned to continue its growth in the Chinese market, reinforcing its significance in the region’s textile trade.
