Wang Yi: China willing to assist Myanmar in achieving peace. These remarks were made during Wang Yi’s meeting with Julie Bishop, the UN Secretary-General’s special envoy on Myanmar.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed China’s willingness to play a constructive role in supporting Myanmar’s peace and reconciliation efforts during a meeting in Beijing on Tuesday. Wang, who is also a member of the CPC Central Committee’s Political Bureau, reiterated China’s stance while meeting with Julie Bishop, the UN Secretary-General’s special envoy on Myanmar.
Wang emphasized China’s strong support for Myanmar’s efforts to protect its independence, sovereignty, national unity, and territorial integrity. He highlighted that as Myanmar’s largest neighboring country, China is deeply invested in seeing the nation restore stability and development.
Additionally, Julie Bishop expressed her appreciation for China’s support and expressed her willingness to maintain close communication and cooperation with China and ASEAN to reach a consensus on resolving the Myanmar issue.
