August 1 – CPC delegation visits Timor Leste at the invitation from the National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction party.
A delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC) visited Timor-Leste from Wednesday to Friday, invited by the National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction party.
Led by Sun Haiyan, deputy head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, the delegation met with Xanana Gusmao, President of the National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction and Prime Minister of Timor-Leste.
The delegation also held discussions with leaders of other major Timorese political parties and media representatives on China-Timor-Leste relations and cooperation in various fields, while explaining the outcomes of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee held in July.
The Timorese expressed gratitude to China for its long-term support, adding they believe China’s efforts towards Chinese-style modernization will bring new opportunities for Timor-Leste’s development and the region.
CPC delegation visits Timor Leste after the President Jose Ramos-Horta was hosted in Beijing recently to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two states.
